TOE DANCING
Tall
and strong and handsome-
My Dad, my hero!
he is the one who carries me to bed
At night and tucks me in.
A tiny kiss on the nose,
A brush of my hair,
A final lingering look of love
And we part until tomorrow.
My hero Dad has broad shoulders,
Strong hands, and feet big enough
To waltz me around the world.

Am
I his girl?
He asks with a tipsy whirl.
"Always and forever," I reply.
Then with a chuckle
And a distant look in his eye,
he pulls me close,
His cheek pressed against my hair.
"One day there'll be another," he whispers
"Far more now we'll waltz
To the end of tomorrow,
Your hand in mine, Princess,
Your feet on mine, Toe Dancing."
